Please note that school will only administer medicine where more than 3 doses are required each day.

Medicine will only be administered after a school request form has been completed. Forms are available at the School Office.

PARENT BOARD

We are excited to announce that we will be starting a Parents’ Board for Oakwood Avenue Community Primary School. This will be an opportunity for parents to meet with staff and share their views and opinions. The board will meet once every half term. The agenda for the first meeting will be set by the Senior Leadership Team and School Council. Future agendas are to be agreed by the Parents’ Board.

The purpose of the Parents’ Board is to be involved in leadership decisions in teaching and learning at Oakwood Avenue concerning agreed areas for development, which will ultimately lead to better outcomes for all children.  We value collaboration with parents and we appreciate your considered response.

There will be a specific protocol for the Parents’ Board which will rely on consultation between parents, staff and governors.

What happens at the Parents’ Board?

At each Parents’ Board there will be:

  • Agreed agenda
  • Proposals to consider.
  • Feedback from staff and children regarding proposals.
  • Parents’ Board discussions and suggestions given.
  • Parents have opportunity to vote on preferred proposals.
  • Governors for ratification.
  • Agreed action.
  • Implementation of action.
  • Review of action in following meetings.

We are looking for parent representatives from all year groups who could commit to the half termly meetings and be prepared to work with the school council, staff and governors to make our school the best it can be for our children.

If you are interested in being involved, there are a number of ways you can let me know. You can either complete the slip overleaf and return it to your child’s class teacher, leave your details at the office or alternatively, contact me via email on j.coates@oakwoodavenue.co.uk.  If you have any questions about the Parents’ Board, I am on the door of the KS2 building most mornings or you can email me on the address given. I l.ook forward to hearing from you.

PARENT VIEW

Parent View gives you the chance to tell Ofsted what you think about your child’s school, from the quality of teaching to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour. The survey can be completed at any time; you don’t have to wait until the school is being inspected.

We will use the information you provide when making decisions about which schools to inspect and when.

SCHOOL MEALS

Hi all,

I’m Margo and I am the Catering Supervisor (cook) at Oakwood.

I am a highly motivated, enthusiastic cook and work to very high standards being passionate about producing appetising, appealing and tasty food for your children. I strongly believe that the lunchtime service we provide at Oakwood is a satisfying, healthy and pleasurable experience for the children. As a team, our main aim of the Oakwood kitchen is for your children to enjoy tasty, well-presented food in a relaxed atmosphere. As I said to some parents at a recent Oaky Drop-in in the Parents’ Café, I am more than happy to be available for a chat before school if you have any concerns or issues regarding your child and school dinners. The more I get to know your children, the better their experience can be.

I am delighted to be a part of the Oakwood Family and look forward to seeing your child/ren enjoying a meal in our school canteen!

PARENTS' HANDBOOK

This 'Parents' Handbook' has been put together to pass on as much information to you as possible.  We thought that it would be useful to have all the school procedures that most affect you written down in one book that you will be able to use for reference as and when is necessary.
