MEET THE GOVERNORS

Who’s Who In Our Governing Body

The Governing Body is a friendly group of volunteers who oversee and support the development of the school so that it always provides a high standard of education for its pupils. Its membership includes staff, parents and people who represent the Local Authority and community.

The following members of staff sit on the governing body:

Gary Cunningham - Headteacher

As Headteacher Mr Cunningham attends all Governing Body meetings and committees. He provides information and answers to Governors about all matters relating to our school. Mr Cunningham is also a Governor at New Horizons School.

Ann-Marie Berry - Co-opted Governor, current terms ends 31.8.18

Mrs Berry has worked at Oakwood Avenue since 2006 and is a former Chair of Governors. She is currently a teaching assistant in Lower KS2. Mrs Berry is also mum to George and Maddie who both attended Oakwood Avenue and are now in high school.

Tracy Robinson - Co-opted Governor, current term ends 31.8.18

Mrs Robinson is the school business manager. She provides detail and responds to questions governors have about our premises, finances and health and safety. She is also a governor at St. Andrew’s Primary School.

Helen Jago - Associate Governor, current term ends 31.8.18

Miss Jago has worked at Oakwood Avenue since 2002. She brings a teacher’s perspective to Governor’s discussions.

Joanne Reilly - Deputy Headteacher

Mrs Reilly joins our meetings as an observer.

Jane Coates - Senior Assistant Head

Miss Coates joins our meetings as an observer

The following parents sit on the governing body:

Garry Finn - Parent Governor, current terms ends 12.10.19

Garry was appointed to the Governing Board in 2015. He runs his own mobile business and is dad to Kian who attends Oakwood Avenue. This means Garry is available to spend time in school during the day, visiting classes and speaking with staff and parents.

Vicky Lockwood - Co-opted governor, current term ends 16.9.19

Vicky works as a Mental Health Practise Manager and is Mum to Will who attends Oakwood Avenue and Rhys who is a former pupil. Vicky chairs our Resource and Finance Committee and has valuable health and safety experience which she uses in her role as governor.

Katie McLaughlin - Parent governor, current term ends 6.02.20

Katie is mum to Anna who attends the school and Ellie and Callum who are both former pupils. She is also a former pupil of Oakwood Avenue herself. Katie has previously been a governor for 10 years and also trained as a teaching assistant at the school. She is currently a volunteer and also works at the CAB.

The following members of the local community sit on the governing body:

Julie Bennion - Co-opted governor, current term ends 31.8.18

Julie is our Chair of Governors. She had worked in other schools as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant and now works as a school business manager. She is mum to Kane who attended the designated provision at Oakwood Avenue before moving on to high school.

Bev Scott-Herron - Co-opted governor, current term ends 31.8.18

Bev is Vice Chair of Governors. She is Headteacher and a Governor of Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School. She brings lots of useful experience to the governing body as well as providing a vital link to secondary school.

Christine Jones - Co-opted governor, current term ends 31.8.18

Christine is a retired primary school headteacher. She has lots of experience to share from her career. She chairs our Learning Community Committee.

Lynn McDonald-Borthwick - Associate governor, current term ends 16.9.19

Lynn works as a Science Lecturer in Liverpool. She lives in Padgate and is Mum to Magnus who is a former pupil of the school.
