Oakwood Avenue Community Primary School

Amanda is our Chair of Governors. Amanda is mum to Lewis currently in Year 2, has two older children at High School aged 11 and 12. Amanda brings a parents perspective to the Governing Board and has a passion for Special Educational Needs and Disability as having two children with additional needs herself. Amanda is also a member of our Parent Voice which meets with SLT to discuss matters of interest with parents and carers. Previously Amanda worked for large well-established companies as Board Level Executive Personal Assistant.

Nicola is from Altrincham. She recently retired after serving for 30 years in Greater Manchester Police. This included working within child protection and domestic violence as a specialised Detective Constable. Nicola also helped set up and worked within the Trafford Youth Offending team. She now runs her own safeguarding training company delivering training to all staff, teachers and professionals who work directly with children. Nicolas has served as a trustee of a local charity and is vice president of her local rugby club.

Claire is a home care assistant and has trained as a person centred therapist, she is also a parent to a child attending the school so is able to bring a parents perspective on board.

Clare is mum to Joseph in Year 2 and Flora in Year 1. Clare is passionate about young people and has worked in the apprenticeships arena for over 10 years supporting young people to reach their full potential and supporting employers to facilitate this. Clare is also a member of Parent Voice and hopefully brings a parents perspective to the governing board.

David is our Vice Chair of Governors. David was born in St Helens, attended Cowley Boys Grammar School, then studied French at Southampton University. David joined Lloyds Bank before being appointed to a management position. He then worked on Guernsey in The Channel islands as an Operations Manager prior to becoming a Regional Manager back in the UK in International, Corporate and Commercial Banking Operations and leaving the Bank in 2006. Subsequently, he became self-employed as a business consultant, working with Small to Medium Enterprises throughout the North West until early retirement in 2016. David’s skillset is in change and people management and leadership. Having a daughter with additional needs, he has always been very alive to creating equal opportunities for all, both academically and in the world of work, with a number of achievements in this respect of which he is particularly proud. His hobbies are Rugby League (a St Helens supporter), travelling, reading and socialising.

Danielle is Mum to two young girls one currently attending Oakwood and one due to start in Reception class in September. She has worked as a teacher for 11 years and is passionate about education for all, with a strong focus on the academic progress but more importantly the whole child development. She hopes to bring my skills as mum, teacher and SENDCO to help Oakwood continue to grow and ensure the best outcomes for the children and families of Oakwood.
