SUBJECT UNITS & ASSESSMENT (KAPOW SCHEME OF WORK)
Year 1
Year 1 follow the Kapow Scheme of work, unit titles:
- Autumn Kapow food, fruit and vegetables (Cooking & Nutrition). Wheels and axles – making a carriage for the Queen. (Mechanisms & Structures).
- Spring Kapow making a moving story book (Mehcanisms)
- Summer Textiles puppets. Making a windmill (Textiles)
Year 3
Year 3 follow the Kapow Scheme of work, unit titles:
- Autumn Structures linked to settlements.
- Spring Textiles.making cushions inspired by William Morris.
- Summer Art focus this term (Pupil Voice happens in this term, biannually)
- Digital world This is covered during computing in spring term, link to designing and making a game thorugh Scratch.
Year 5
Year 5 follow the Kapow Scheme of work, unit titles:
- Autumn Structures, building a bridge.(Structures)
- Spring Moving & pop up books.(Mechanisms)
- Summer Food: Caribbean cuisine.(Cooking & Nutrition)
- Digital World - day at Trust high school using 3D CAD systems

Year 2 follow the Kapow Scheme of work, unit titles:
- Autumn Hinges, levers & rotation linked to Pirate ships. (mechanisms) Baking scones & making sandwiches. (Cooking & Nutrition)
- Spring Explore and evaluate packaging - seed and bulb packages (Textiles)
- Summer Art focus this term (Pupil Voice happens in this term, biannually)
Year 4
Year 4 follow the Kapow Scheme of work, unit titles:
- Autumn Catapult mechanisms.(Mechanisms)
- Spring Textiles.(Textiles)
- Summer Electrical systems - designing and making an alarm warning system (Electrical systems) (Pupil Voice happens in this term, biannually)
Year 6
Year 6 follow the Kapow Scheme of work, unit titles:
- Autumn Textiles – Tudor Rose applique (Textiles)
- Spring Construction of biomes (Construction).
- Summer Farm to fork ‘Come dine with me’ (Cooking & Nutrition)
