Global Learning

We have global learning at the very heart of our teaching and learning, with the whole school currently working towards achieving the re-accreditation of the International Schools Award. We have 2 partner schools, in Spain and South Africa. You can read more about these under the partner schools tab.  Our aim is to develop young people with 21st Century Skills by developing core skills and competencies that relate not only to the world in which they are living, but also to the future world in which they will live. These include:

  • Critical thinking, problem solving, creativity and innovation
  • Communication and collaboration
  • Information literacy, information and communication technology (ICT) literacy
  • Global citizenship and civic responsibility, including cultural awareness and competence

We respect and value different cultures and beliefs through the many varied trips and visitors here for example; Judaism week, Whole-School Remembrance Day and whole school half termly topic on refugees.

We actively encourage the study of a foreign language by teaching weekly lessons of Spanish and keeping in touch with our partner school in Malaga, Spain, by email and SKYPE.

We enable our pupils to learn about the global issues through embedding the 17 Sustainable Development Goals into our curriculum, e.g.  Life below Water and Responsible Consumption is covered when looking at the problem of Plastics in the Ocean, studied in English lessons.
