Speech and Language Support

Children who are in need of speech and language support may be referred to the NHS Speech and Language service or our in-school support provided by Chatty Therapy who will also work alongside NHS.

Chatty Therapy provides our school with an effective speech and language service working with children and supporting/training staff. Mrs Clare Edwards has experience in many areas of communication difficulties including early language development, learning difficulties, social skills, speech sound difficulties and autism. She can provide assessment, programmes for school staff to carry out, direct therapy, advice and staff training.

She works with children and staff to support children with the following difficulties:

  • Attention and listening
  • Understanding language and following instructions
  • Poor vocabulary
  • Limited spoken language or poor grammar
  • Poor speech sound development
  • Stammering
  • Selective mutism
  • Social and communication difficulties
